Bruce County in conjunction with the South Bruce OPP are advising that there has been a significant increase in emergency scams targeting Canadian seniors.

Anyone who suspects they have been the victim of a cybercrime or fraud should report it immediately to their local police or call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

The Emergency or Grandparent scam targets seniors by pretending to be family members in distress, the police or a justice official claiming their relative is in trouble, and needs money immediately.

Victims are told there is a gag order, and they can’t speak to anyone.

It is a scam.

Protect yourself.
