When it comes to emergencies, Bruce County is hoping you’re including your pets in the plan.

When an emergency comes and evacuation is needed, you need to be prepared to care for your pet for several days.

There are multiple items needed for your pets including food and water which could be up to four litres per day depending on the dog and one litre for cats.

Any medication for your pets should be brought along with vaccine records and make sure collars and ID tags are up to date to identify your pet.

Ray Lux, Bruce County’s Emergency Management Coordinator says emergencies are stressful so knowing your pets are taken care of is one less worry.
