The Provincial Government has created a 9 member Housing Affordability Task Force which will work at developing government recommendations on measures to address market housing supply and affordability.

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says that while it is seen as an urban issue, she says she knows it is a very big concern in Huron-Bruce. She adds that housing prices across her riding have soared in recent years, making it nearly impossible for young families to own their own home.

The mandate for the Task Force is to explore measures to address housing affordability through increasing supply, building housing in complete community, reduce red tape and accelerate timelines, encourage innovation, support economic recover and job creation and balance housing needs and protecting the environment.
