Saugeen Shores Council looking to Fill Port Elgin Ward Vacancy

Required documents related to applying for the Vacancy must be submitted in person by March 2nd at 2pm.

The Town of Saugeen Shores announced that due to a vacancy on Council in the Port Elgin ward they are looking to fill the opening by appointment in accordance with the Municipal Act.

The term of the position is from the date of appointment until the next Council is sworn in after the 2022 Municipal Election.

In terms of eligibility, Council says a candidate for municipal office must be a qualified elector as set out in the Election Act. They say prior to submitting an application, interested individuals should familiarize themselves with the Municipal Acts for further details relating to required qualifications.

The deadline to submit a Council Vacancy Application Form, Declaration of Qualification and Freedom of Information Release form is Wednesday, March 2, 2022 by 2pm at the Municipal Office.

Also to be submitted with the documents outlined they say is a personal statement including their background information, related qualifications and why they are interested in the position. The document shouldn’t exceed two pages in length one sides.

They must be filed in person. They cannot be faxed or emailed.
